Misc. Bulbs
Plant your miscellaneous bulbs immediately upon receipt. Smaller bulbs should be planted fairly close together, roughly 4 inches apart and 2 - 3 times as deep as their height. To create a border splash of color, you can plant them even closer, to the point where the bulbs are almost touching. Choose a site which receives at least 4-6 hours of sunlight each day and is well-drained. Water frequently in spring. Cover with mulch in winter. Peat moss, pine needles, leaves, straw or grass cuttings are good materials to use.
Freesia:
If your area is not yet free of frost,
store all of the bulbs/tubers in a dry, airy place where the
temperature stays in the 60-65 degree Fahrenheit range, until the
danger of a hard frost has passed. Plant bulbs about 2 inches deep and
4 inches apart in a sunny area. Keep the plants moist but not wet.
Ranunculus:
Store Ranunculus bulbs in a dry,
airy place until your area is free of frost. Select a sunny,
well-drained, compost-rich location. Plant tubers about 2 inches deep
and 4 inches apart with the little legs pointing down. Keep soil moist
but not wet.
Dutch iris
Plant 6 inches deep and 4 inches apart. Use medium drained soil with moderate water.
