Botanical Name: Dryopteris cycadina Description: Blackwood Fern is another common name for this superb selection. Shaggy Shield Fern has light golden green fronds on stems that are dotted with small black scales. The fronds have a leathery texture and the stems a graceful, arching habit. They are semi-evergreen and will provide year round enjoyment where winters are mild. The plants grow 12 to 30 inches in height, and 18 to 25 inches in width. They do well in containers, or use them in borders among mixed perennials, in natural woodland settings, rock gardens, or massed as a cover in shaded areas. Growing tips: Ferns prefer shade with indirect sunlight and high humidity. Moist, well-drained soil. Height: 12-24 inches
