Botanical Name: Athyrium filix-femina 'Lady in Red' Description: Striking red stems distinguish this deciduous fern. Fresh shoots unfurl continuously all season long into upright, bright green fronds, delicately cut into intricate lace. Vigorous and easy to grow, this variety is tolerant of a wide range of growing conditions – it can even withstand sun as long as the soil is kept evenly moist. Dense clumps form over time, so dividing is recommended unless you're looking for an attractive ground cover for shady locations. Beautiful in the landscape planted among hostas and other shade-lovers, and the colorful fronds are also an attractive addition to indoor bouquets. Very manageable, it will spread to only about three feet at maturity. Growing tips: Ferns prefer shade with indirect sunlight and high humidity. Moist, well-drained soil. Height: 30-36 inches Spread: 24 inches
