Botanical Name: Athyrium 'Ghost' Description: This intriguing fern is named for its showy, silvery fronds. It grows upright, reaching from one to three feet high and spreads as wide. New fronds are a pale whitish color, which slowly darkens to a silvery green as the fronds unfurl. This particular variety also displays distinctive burgundy markings, giving it the elegant appearance of a painted Japanese fern. Plant this variety to brighten up a shady corner, or use its neutral color to balance other blooms in a perennial border. You can also create an attractive, dense ground cover for shady spots where other plants won't grow because it spreads slowly by shallow rhizomes. Growing tips: Ferns prefer shade with indirect sunlight and high humidity. Moist, well-drained soil. Height: 24-36 inches
