Botanical Name: Dryopteris erythrosora Description: Also called Japanese Sword Fern, Autumn fern is a native of China and Japan. It is somewhat rare and a very choice fern, appreciated mainly for its superb color and form. Besides being beautiful, it is extremely hardy and evergreen. Deeply notched fronds are a warm rosy brown when young and age to a glossy medium green. Scarlet spore sacks dot the undersides for added color interest. Shade loving, 30 inches tall, and 18 to 30 inches wide.
Growing tips: Ferns prefer shade with indirect sunlight and high humidity. Moist, well-drained soil. Height: 12-36 inches
