Botanical: Carex flagillifera 'Toffee Twist' Description: Commonly known as Toffee Twist Sedge, this grass has no blooms of significance but more than earns its place in the garden with its terrific foliage and form. Slender bronze or toffee-colored leaves arch gracefully to form 2 to 3-foot mounds. The leaves are irridescent in sunlight and in fall and winter develop coral highlights. Toffee Twist prefers moist locations, in full sun or partial shade, and does well in containers. Great for low borders, massed plantings, or accents. Its subtle color and lovely form contribute to the landscape year round. Medium growth rate. Growing tips: Grasses are easy
to grow, and adapts to most conditions. Feed once a year with a slow
release fertilizer in the spring at a 3-1-2 or 4-1-2 ratio). Mulch with
organic material in the fall to protect roots and shoots from freezing.
Grasses that die back completely in the winter can be cut back in the
very early spring to rejuvenate the plant and evergreen varieties which
survive the winter should only be cleaned up by removing dead growth. Height: 2-3 feet Spread: 2-3 feet Attributes: Container, deer resistant, evergreen, specimen
