The blooms are long lasting and can be changed from magenta-red to blue with the addition of aluminum sulfate to the soil. The flowers age to an attractive green with age. This compact, mildew resistant hydrangea is ideal for containers! Growing tips: Best in well-drained soils that have been amended with peat moss, leaf mold or compost. Flourishes by the ocean. Pruning is usually not needed, but may be pruned immediately after planting. Fertilize in early spring by applying a slow release fertilizer specialized for trees and shrubs.
