Description: Pick and cook for an unforgettable taste treat.  Fresh-cooked asparagus beats the socks off store-bought asparagus that has aged a few days at least.  Much more tender.  Plants take a couple of years to become fully established, but once they do, you can harvest them over an 8- to 10-week period.  Plantings will produce reliably for up to 15 years before needing replacement.  Asparagus plants are tall, graceful, and have feathery foliage that makes a wonderful backdrop for flowers.  Plant along a fence, harvest spears in spring, and enjoy the plants as a decorative addition to the garden through the summer.
