Botanical Name: Fritillaria assyriaca
Description: This delightful Fritillaria is native to Turkey, Iran, and Iraq.  It grows in sunny or shady locations, and produces lovely deep bell flowers on strong stems that curve at the top so the flower is suspended.  The blossoms are bicolor--a soft purple with bright yellow petal tips.  It grows 8 to 10 inches tall, blooms in late spring, and is a perfect choice for rock gardens, or to plant in groups in woodland settings.  It naturalizes to increase in number each year.  Plant this uncommon and delightful bulb and enjoy its wildflower-like blooms each spring.
