What's a bulb?
A flower’s "bulb" is its storage organ, also called a geophyte, which holds the plant’s nutrients that it needs to survive. Common plants that have bulbs are tulips, lilies, amaryllis, alliums, daffodils and onions. Other types of geophytes are:
- Rhizomes - (iris, cannas, strawberries)
- Tubers/Tuberous roots - (dahlias, daylilies, potatoes)
- Corms - (crocus, gladiolus, freesia)

What is a hardiness zone?
A hardiness zone is a geographically-defined area in which a specific category of plant life is capable of growing. Extra measures might need to be taken in areas where temperatures are high, like moving the plants from the ground to a much colder area through the winter. Click here to find your hardiness zone.
